When a filmmaker gets to write, direct and co-produce a pet project it can either be a masterpiece (Coppola's Apocalypse Now) or a total mess driven by vanity (Nolan's Tenet)
Just what was he thinking? Surely the editor could have at least said No! you can't have a confused looking Washington nod at the word 'Paradox' then move swiftly on to the next incomprehensible plotless scene acting like he knows what's going on.
This is Nolan's disaster. His Heaven's Gate. Hopefully it's not the end of his career as Memento and Inception were good.

Mein Lieblingsnolan-Film: Memento, danach Prestige. Danach hat er zwar bemerkenswerte Filme gemacht, aber die haben mich nicht so abgeholt, wie sie es sollten, inklusive die Dark Knight Trilogie. Das größte Problem von Nolan, das ich immer wieder sehe: Die Charaktere sind zu uninteressant. Die Story ist oft wirklich großartig, aber die Charaktere sind einfach nur ferne und teilweise unsympathische Figuren, die nur tun sollen, was die Story verlangt. Mir fehlt immer die emotionale Inszenierung und ich glaube auch einfach, dass das Nolan nicht kann! Er ist super im Bombast und Action, aber wenn es um Emotionen geht, dann versagt er häufig, oder probiert es noch nicht mal, die Charaktere an den Zuschauer heranzuführen, indem man ihnen genug Fleisch und Background gibt. Und dann haben wir das Dilema: Ich fiebere nicht mit den Charakteren mit, sondern ich verfolge nur die Story und das Geschehen, das ja wie gesagt gut inszeniert wird. Am Ende hab ich dann eine tolle Story erlebt, aber die war emotional unterkühlt. Ich will doch mitgenommen werden! Aber das schafft Nolan bei mir meistens nicht. Die einzigen Ausnahmen sind wie gesagt Memento und Prestige, die trotz der geringen Emotionalität funktionieren.
